What We Do
Changing lives through knowledge, action, and opportunity.
United Edge Nigeria works where science, learning, and livelihoods meet. Through climate adaptation research we study local risks such as floods, heatwaves, and droughts, and we partner with communities to test practical solutions. From flood resistant farming to early warning systems and clean energy models, our research is not left on the shelf. It is translated into clear knowledge products that local leaders, schools, and policymakers can use to guide decisions.
That knowledge flows directly into youth climate education. We believe that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow but change makers today. We support teachers with resources, build school and community clubs, and run workshops where students learn hands on climate skills. They plant trees, monitor water sources, debate climate policy, and share what they learn with their families. In this way, awareness turns into confidence, and confidence turns into leadership.
Alongside this, we run poverty alleviation programmes that give families the chance to earn with dignity while protecting the environment. Farmers learn climate smart practices that increase yields and reduce risk. Youth cooperatives receive training, seed, and small grants to start sustainable ventures. Families gain access to clean energy options that cut costs while reducing emissions. By weaving livelihoods into climate action, poverty is not just reduced, it is transformed into opportunity.
This three part approach of research, education, and poverty alleviation creates a cycle where each pillar strengthens the other. Research guides what we teach, education empowers action, and poverty reduction ensures resilience is not just for a few, but for everyone. It is how we help Nigerian communities not only survive the climate crisis, but grow stronger, fairer, and more hopeful because of it.
